Growing up in the heart of the Black Country the shadow of Thatcher loomed over me in the most obvious ways; mass poverty and unemployment still to this day entrenches the region and austerity only makes things worse for the poor and better for the rich. I’m currently vice president of Exeter Socialist Students; an inclusive left wing society at the University of Exeter and a Guild Councilor on behalf of Exeter Defend Education (who fight for free education and against the corporatisation of our schooling). Exeter Socialist Students in particular have keenly participated in occupations, demonstrations, and other events fighting for equality and against capitalism.
As well as this I’m involved in local groups such as Organise Exeter and Exeter Food Fight.
The Student Against Austerity offers a platform for broad support against the imposed austerity that threatens the lives of millions and as such I am very enthusiastic about working with them. Mass mobilization and the collectivization of the peoples against cuts is the only way forwards.
