It was the biggest national demonstration against racism in a decade, sending a clear message ahead of the General Election that we won’t stand for politicians scapegoating immigrants and Black communities for falling living standards, which in reality have been caused by the bankers crashing the economy, and the disastrous austerity policies which have followed the crash.
On the day students from more than 40 campuses joined the protest, with representatives from the National Union of Students, including the Black Students' Officer, Disabled Students' Officer, International Students' Officer and Vice President Society & Citizenship, also taking part.
Following on from the huge national demo against racism, the Student Assembly’s Barbara Ntumy confronted Nigel Farage on UKIP’s racist scapegoating on immigrants – check out the clip here.
Below we share some photos of the student bloc and more. What a great day! Let’s keep on uniting and fighting against racism.
