The Student Assembly Against Austerity is the student wing of the People’s Assembly. Our aim is to ensure that this uncaring government faces a broad and powerful movement of opposition to its austerity policies.
Since the Student Assembly Against Austerity was launch just over 8 months ago we have been working hard to unite students to take on the Tory-led government’s assault on education.
Our first major campaign – to #StopTheSellOff of student loans to private companies has resulted in forcing a government u-turn on the issue with Vince Cable this week announcing planned privatisation of our student debt will no longer go ahead.
The Student Assembly Against Austerity was at the forefront of the campaign to #StopTheSellOff – organising days and a week which saw mass petitioning, protests, stunts and student sit ins sweep over more than 50 campuses across the country.
The General Election is just months away and the Student Assembly Against Austerity is planning an ambitious programme of national action – from launching a STUDENT MANIFESTO 2015, to mobilising students for the Trade Union Congress national demo on the 18th October to organising our own national student demo on Wednesday 19th November alongside a coalition of other student organisations.
We are a young, fast growing organisation with very little funds and every penny you donate will go towards building a national student movement that takes on the government’s disgraceful austerity offensive.
Please consider making a one off or regular donation to help us with our campaigning work – with your support the Student Assembly Against Austerity can continue growing from strength to strength.
