Assemble at 12noon – Portland Place London W1A 1AA followed by rally in Trafalgar Square
Organised by Stand Up To Racism
The Student Assembly Against Austerity will be joining thousands of people to march for a future free from racism.
WHY WE ARE MARCHING?
The refugee crisis has seen thousands of people die over the past year while thousands more languish in camps in the most appalling conditions. The British government’s response has been utterly disgraceful and has sought to demonise people who are fleeing war, poverty and persecution.
Across Europe we have seen a staggering rise in Islamophobic hate crimes. In Britain this is accompanied by a government led witch hunt of Muslim students and young people, with the racist ‘Prevent’ agenda leading to mass demonization.
As the cuts bite racist scapegoating is on the rise, with politicians seeking to blame immigrants and Black communities for falling living standards which are in reality a result of the Tory government’s austerity measures.
Let’s send a message that drives back the tide of racism, fascism, Islamophobia, anti-Semitism and the scapegoating of migrants and refugees – we say refugees welcome here and yes to diversity!
